I'm assuming it's good, but would not play.

Based on everyone else's reviews, I'm giving it high ratings, but it wouldn't play for me. I'm only mentioning it b/c you mentioned having tech issues making it. I dunno' if that's related to why it wouldn't play or not, but it crashed my flash session (I had to reload the frame & then close the window real quick to be able to make the browser work again). I'm using Chrome (latest stable release) on Kubuntu 10.10 (a linux platform).

I'm only putting this here in case you're interested in tech issues, not to gripe. I'll probably be able to watch this for real in Windows later on. If you're not interested in the tech details, then never mind & just disregard this. In any case, keep 'em coming! :-)

thanks you for the review because I feel it is important for everyone to watch my movie without any mishap. I will be extra careful when I make my next project and make sure every scene is playable on all computers. I did posted the movie on youtube for people that cannot watch on newgrounds.

Cool ideas - definitely keep it up!

Cool ideas, went well with the song, and a great choice of music. You should definitely keep it up if this is one of your first - you got a lot of potential. Good work! :-)

Eskimos? :-? I thought they were...

...assholes. :-/ Seriously, that's what they looked like. Great flash, in any case, though! :-)

Way slick.

Very smooth, perfect for trippin' to. I bet this would be killer with a DXM/pot buzz. :-)

Totally epic.

Never in my life did I ever think I'd get to see a truly "epic" grammar flame - this was a most excellent choice of voice acting tracks for trying typomation with. Your nuances were flawless - I especially liked your depiction of "this game is crap!" - the slow start speed and then the sudden rapid drop once it's cleared the upper edge of the screen - PERFECT! Please, feel free to do more like this. :-) If you need someone to read something for you and this dude's not available, I'll be glad to do it, though I have to admit I don't think I could do it nearly as well as this dude. Great work to both of you! :-)

"Aaaugh!"

Loved that first scream. TOO cute. Love the cat, too. I think I recognize that cat. That... is scary. :-#

Great - but man, long wait! :-)

I've been waiting for this one to come out. As intriguing as I'd hoped. Now, please, don't make the next one take quite so long if you can help it - 2 years is a long time to wait for a next installment. ;-) Still, thanks for sharing & keep it up! :-)

Confusing, but good.

Not bad. Lots of interesting subtle animation quirks (like stationary textures on moving clothes) and just creepy enough to make you want to know what the thing in the box is. Do you plan on doing any more to show where the "mask"-thing (or whatever it is) came from? Love to see it if you do. :-)

tecatense - In the U.S., there's a Christmas carol called "What Child Is This?" set to the same tune as "Greensleeves". Yah, I know - it annoys me, too. ;-) Though it -is- a pretty song and fun to play. :-)

turtleco responds:

I'm glad the ending intrigued you more than annoyed you.

and yeah, is just Greensleeves "the Christmas carol version" I guess

Could use more sound.

I like the concept, but it really would've benefited from more sound (unless you wanted it to be a silent piece, in which case the sounds there were would've been out of place). I'm not entirely sure I understood what was happening with the little red stick-figure, but it does look like you're developing a mythos as a back-story for possible future episodes. I'd definitely encourage that - this could make for some pretty interesting episodes. Keep it up! :-)

Definitely took some work!

Ordinarily, I might have rated this perhaps a 3 and given it 5 or 6 out of 10 for effort, but the criticism I see you've received thus far is really rather harsh. So I'm giving you 10/10 and 5/5 just to offset that. Frankly, for a first submission, I think you did a great job. Had you been submitting for years and years and years and produced something like this, I probably would've flamed you. But for a first effort, I really don't think it's half bad at all. It's criticism like some prior reviews that makes a person not even want to bother trying any more, but I think you should just ignore that. Granted, you could use some practiie, and I wouldn't lie and tell you it's really high-quality professional work just yet or anything - but just getting the gumption to start and having the nerve to subject your work for others to pick to pieces - that's worth a good solid commentation, imho. It really wasn't bad even so, I enjoyed it. Certainly things get passed on here that make this look like an all-out Spielberg production in comparison, so I say great work! Keep it up, and hope to see more from you! :-)

As for the flash itself, the material as intended was actually pretty good. The vocal mannerisms were right in-line with the movies - definitely could've been louder and sharper, but the rhythm & the challenge itself were right on-par. Kepp it up! :-)

Beauty is where you see it.
