Not your ordinary stick animation

DAYUM! That was really, really GOOD! Especially for a stick flick! I mean, you hit on so many inside jokes and famous movie moments... and the song was perfect, and yes, I am SO glad you made the sound as high a quality as you did - that made a difference! And so many -subtle- jokes in with all the blatant stuff - if you aren't pro now but can manage something like this with -sticks-, then I'm sure you -could- be pro in pretty short order. Great job! :-)

Jasmerrin responds:

Thanks a lot! I really hoped the inside jokes would go over well.

Thanks for the review!

Kinda' cute, worth working on I think

As is, I wouldn't want to see too many more. But with a little spit & polish, I think this could be really cool. The voices was the part that needs the most work - sound quality mostly - the rest wasn't too bad.

AtionSong responds:

Thanks. Yeah, I realize that there are still some things that could be improved, but I'm working on them. Next episode should be much improved.

I thought the backgrounds were rather nice

Not sure what's so bad about "traced bitmaps", but I thought the backgrounds were pretty decent. Very attractive and sleek. And the storyline wasn't bad, I'm definitely curious to see what happens next! :-)

merit44 responds:

Nothing at all is wrong with using bmps, jpegs, or tracing them as long as your not stealing someone elses work to do it. I guess its just a matter of preference for some people. The next one may not be until this summer which is still cool cause it gives me time to make it better and work on the movie as well ^^

ARRRGGHHH!!!

Great work! Only reason I'm "ARRRRGHHH!"-ing is 'cuz now, that friggin' song's gonna' be in my head for the next WEEK or more... :-# But cool flick, thanks for makin' it! :-)

N00bNation responds:

Your welcome :)

Not bad, but for the "No" bit

I liked the whole thing except for that really long "NOOOOOOOOOO" bit. If not for that, I'd have been glad to give you more on the sound. I was praying the entire ten minutes that a "skip this part" button would appear soon, but it never did. That would be my only request - add something to skip past that incredibly annoying sound. Otherwise, great job! :-)

3Dmadness responds:

sorry about that im not to good with Action script at the mo but i'll see what i can do

Cute idea

Cute idea, I liked it. I think the graphics were perfect for the content. But I think if you're going to be doing stuff like this to any major degree, you should learn how to take criticism a little bit better, whether you're American or not. ;-)

SMIRF-06 responds:

I don't mind "constuctive" critisim ..., although mostly what people write at NG seems to border just pure Ass-phobia (common term for people who don't have much else to do besides bitch at other people)

Freaky

I can't honestly say I "got" it, but it was pretty cool just the same. The mix of diverse elements combined to create a surreal, Warhol-ish style of unreality that totally flipped the senses. Neato.

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

Warhol. :>

Wha'd he say?

Not bad, but the text came and went too quickly, I couldn't read half of what the characters said. :-/

CorpseGrinderClock responds:

Yeah, sorry about that

Not bad, but yet...

I see many great reviews. A lot of people loved this short, and I'm glad they could be touched. I understand the sentiment, but for some reason it just doesn't affect me the way it has most. Maybe it's because I know people who are physically disabled and am aware of the realities such people face. What I would consider more beautiful is letting the guy find someone who can love and be with him in spite of his obstacles. People don't have to be "normal" to be happy. Not everyone with a disability feels like their lives are lacking. I've known many such people, particularly among the Deaf. So maybe that's why it rubbed me differently than it did others. I dunno'. I appreciate the message you were trying to convey, I just wish there wouldn't be the misconception there is that you have to fit into some stereotypical ideal of "normal" in order to find happiness. It was touching in its own way, I appreciate the work you put into it, but it would have touched me a lot more if the dude in the chair found his happiness while still in it. For most who cannot walk, that is their life, they will never just "get up and run". Nor should they have to just to find happiness.

AligatorHead responds:

beautiful statement i TOTALY see what your saying. How ever, if you couldnt walk woulndt you want to? But of course while you have time to pend a way to walk you do find hapiness and be content with your self. But why stop? Why give up? YOu see?

this story is about inspiratin and NOT GIVING UP. He was conent, he was happy with the way he was, watch it again, look at the photos, he was smiling with amy, he has good friendhsip with amy. Its just when he was asked what he would wish for, he woudl wish to walk. Not that he's not allready happy, but becuase he's never walked before.

Do you see MY point? now how do you feel toward everything?
But really bueaitful thing what you said.

Your message wasn't lost on everybody

I'd seen a negatory comment or two regarding why anyone might make such a short seemingly sympathetic to characters like the Columbine killers. Truth is, like it or not, they were victims, too, in their own way. People may not like to hear that, but it's just the plain and simple truth. Their actions weren't justified, that isn't the message I got, but their actions didn't just emerge from a vacuum. Something hurt them, something not of their own making (namely other kids, self-righteous punks who thought it was their god-given right to persecute people for being different). Don't feel sorry for them, I don't, but don't pretend like they alone created the situation that set them off.

AloneInTheDark responds:
